Why Seth Godin said that blogging everyday was one of the top career decisions he made in his life
Seth Godin needs no introduction and is an author of many amazing books like This is marketing, Purple Cow, Linchpin, The practise etc. He has an amazing blog which you can follow from here
One of the most interesting things about Seth Godin is that he writes a blog article every single day. In one of his interviews he had said that he had written one article each day for 11 years without any break in between which is amazing. This streak is something which is hard to beat by anyone
I was watching one of his interviews where they were talking about the importance of writing and Seth Godin said that blogging everyday was one of the top career decisions he made in his life.
If you look at Seth Godin's articles they are not long form articles which is usually what you observe in most of the blog articles. They are short, usually explaining his thoughts about a topic.
I just wanted to deconstruct why he considers it to be the top career decisions he made in his life. Firstly the benefits of writing daily I believe would improve your communication, it helps you to clarify your thoughts about a topic, it helps you to explore a topic and get new ideas but I feel the biggest benefit of writing everyday like how Seth Godin does is that you become much more aware and observant of the world
If you are writing everyday, then for the first ten to fifteen days, it would be easy for you to come up with new topics and write everyday but after that it's going to be much harder to find new topics.
This forces you to become much more aware of what's happening in your world because anything you read, observe, conversations with your friends can be an idea for you to write an article about
You start instinctively looking to explore ideas or meaning even in smallest of things helping to gain new perspective in lot of areas of your life which I believe is the biggest benefit of writing everyday
